Hey From Nashville!
Hey Y’all,
I wanted to update you while I am on my writing trip here in Nashville! I left the snow behind and I’m enjoying the sun here in Music City! On Day 1 I got all settled in to the lovely SOCAN house and enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner at Chuys! Then it was off to the famous Blue Bird Cafe where Mike Henderson and some kicka** musicians were rockin’ the house! Day 2, I had my first writing appointment with Jeff Jones! We have a hit in the making on our hands. Then it was out to dinner with some new musicians friends! To end the night Michaela Clarke and I got to attend the Big Machine Label party! Front row! Amazing performances from Eli Young Band Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw!
Day 3 in Nashville, went to the Nashville Convention Centre to see Little Big Town talk about the ups and downs of their music career. Wrote a great song with Michaela Clarke, Tom Petric & #BrentonThorvaldson called Use To Say. Then went to a singer/songwriter night at The Row hosted by Randy Finchum Oden’s Row. Ended the night at the Big Machine Label Party round 2! Got to listen to #TheBandPerry #JustinMoore #MotleyCrue and #BrantleyGilbert! On Day 4, I had an awesome writing session with Michaela Clarke Music and Bruce Wallace! #KeepMeGuessing. Went to Margaritaville on Broadway with Michaela for dinner. We got to listen to some lovely fellas play some great live music! #StevenDorian #ChrisHatfield. Day 5, I wrote a new tune with Nettie & Howie called Perfume and Cigarettes. Then headed back to Broadway for dinner with Michaela at the Hard Rock Cafe and some cowgirl boot shopping!
On Day 6, it was off to the Grand Ole Opry! Got to sit right on stage behind the artists performing. My favourite performer of the night was Chris Janson! I got to explore the backstage area and even got to meet the fabulous Pam Tillis! On Day 7, Michaela Clarke and I went to the famous Pancake Pantry for breakfast. It was delicious, and a lovely couple who sat next to us even offered to pay for our meal. In the evening we headed to Tequila Cowboys where I got on stage for my first time in Nashville to sing Mama’s Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert with the band!
It has been such an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait to see what this next week brings! I will be sure to keep y’all updated.
