Nashville & New Music!

Hey Y’all!

I’m excited to share with y’all that I am working on new music for a new CD! I just spent the last week in Nashville co-writing with many fabulous songwriters building up song choices for a new album. I want to say a big thank you to Patricia Conroy, Brian Donkers, Benita Hill, Brian White, Jane Bach and RyLee Madison for lending your time and creativity! And of course thanks to Doug Romanow, who I am working with as a writer and a producer for this project.

While in Nashville I also got to work with Jake Harsh to get some new photos done. Jake is an Amazing photographer and I can’t wait to show you the results!

I wish I could tell you more but I don’t want to give too much away :) I can say that this CD will be bigger and better then the last and it will definitely showcase who I am as an artist.

I will keep you updated along this journey of new music and you can stay up to date by following me on Facebook ( and Twitter (@NRayy).

Exploring Asia

Hey Y’all,

If you have been following me on Facebook you have read every detail of my trip to Asia as it was unfolding. I wanted share a blog about the trip, but I figured I wouldn’t bore you with every detail all over again :) My mom has a blog of her own and she asked me to write something for hers so I thought I would share with you what I wrote.

It’s been an exciting week right from the start! Flying 14 hours isn’t so bad when you are doing so first class.

As soon as we arrived we began walking, more than I have in a while, to see as many sights as possible while we are here. From temples to museums, outdoor markets to shopping malls we have definitely packed a lot in.

I’m not sure what exactly I expected it to be like when I visited Shanghai, but the city is definitely filling in the gaps in my imagination. On one street you have huge skyscrapers and six floor shopping malls with designers from Gucci to Tiffany. On another there are old houses being torn down and markets out on the street from antiques to seafood.

There is so much more activity in the streets here, and I thought Toronto had a lot. On any given night you can go for a walk and see people outside learning to dance or jumping rope! The sense of community and friendship on the streets makes Billy and I wish we knew the language better so we could join in!

Although, the language barrier hasn’t slowed Billy down from joining in the jump rope games to trying food sold on the side of the road, he has immersed himself in the culture. As my eating habits are not quite as adventurous, I have been a little more cautious. Though many people would be happy to know I have been trying some ‘different’ foods while I’m here.

Although Shanghai has started to feel like home after a week of visiting, we are clearly still outsiders. Not sure if it’s my purple hair or cowboy boots, but I certainly do get a lot of stares while I am out exploring the city. I’m hoping that I start to blend in soon because according to Billy he is ready to pack up and move here!

For now our trip is nearing the end and we will have to return back to Canada, with lots of souvenirs in hand. But Shanghai you can bet we will be back!! IMG_20141031_183406
